Heartthrob cuts one of his fellow Texans

Roses are red, rejects are blue.

Heartthrob Brad Womack of Austin cut one of two Texan women from the herd Monday on opening night of ABC's 11th edition of The Bachelor.

Gone is Natalie, a 25-year-old law student from Duncanville. Making the show's latest batch of 15 supplicants is Solisa, also 25, an esthetician from Georgetown.

Womack otherwise followed the show's script, constantly professing his determination to "find true love, to find a wife. And I will follow my heart."

Only one marriage has emerged so far, and that was on The Bachelorette when Trista Rehn eventually exchanged vows with Ryan Sutter.

But during an earlier teleconference, Womack, 34, said he's "extremely happy with the turnout of the show. So for me to lay low [as the pre-taped show airs] isn't hard at all. It's very, very easy for me."

Womack's not anticipating any Bachelor viewing parties at the four Austin bars he co-owns with two of his brothers.

"Actually, I'm going to be gone most of the time," he said, referring to ABC's demands on him. "And it's pretty tough to put The Bachelor up in a bar when Monday Night Football is on."

ABC has billed him as "the sexiest bachelor ever," and so he regularly takes off his shirt in network promos. He not only jogged shirtless but fried eggs while bare-chested.

"I don't know how to take that, quite honestly," he said. "It's a great title, but of course it is laughable, probably more to my guy friends than anybody else. I don't typically walk around with my shirt off, especially when I'm cooking breakfast. I'm taking a little ribbing for it."

Cuban needs a good off-court game plan

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban will kick up his heels today for the first time on ABC's Dancing with the Stars (8 p.m., WFAA/Channel 8). Here's the breakdown:

Dance: He'll do the fox trot and mix in a few seconds of "churn the butter," first in an intended series of "beer drinkers' special" moves.

Pro partner: Kym Johnson, who helped take Joey Fatone to the previous edition's Final Two.

She said: "The most important thing is bringing a celebrity's personality out. And that's what we're doing."

He said: "I think everybody thinks I'm going to be the stiff. So I'll use that in my favor."

Tip: Don't give any lip to the judges, and let loose rather than err on the side of caution. -- Ed Bark, special to the Star-Telegram

Coming tomorrow: A review of Cuban's dance moves. In Live!
